“ ‘Collisions’, is the coming together of neo-classical and film composer Tom Hodge, post-rock composer Ciaran Morahan and jazz composer Ollie Howell.

For most new projects, one might wonder about the band name and its relationship to the members therein. Not so with this project, as their musical backgrounds can be heard colliding throughout their self-titled debut offering, creating a new symbiotic relationship with one another.

Fusing together their respective styles, they have created an exciting blend that feels expansive and immersive, almost cinematic, whilst still capturing the energy and thrill of a live performance. “

"The term ‘Self-Identity’ was originally described to me as “the recognition of one's potential and qualities as an individual”. The creation of this album began as a quest to discover the different parts of myself that make me who I am, and my developing identity as a musician. Rather than the discovery of an answer to that question however, this album instead became a document of the first step of that journey, and one that I hope continues to intrigue and define me. The wonderfully surprising places this music took me to whilst writing and creating it have led me to new musical worlds and exciting challenges, and have unleashed a new sense of musical-freedom that is continuing to inspire me."

“This album chronicles a life changing and defining point of my life that had both dramatic highs (including the befriending and mentorship of Quincy Jones and Jimmy Cobb) and also dramatic lows. In 2009, I was diagnosed with a brain malformation, for which I then had several neurosurgeries for, the latest being in April 2012. The resulting scars from those surgeries (and their sutures and stitches) stand as reminders, not of my pain and anguish during that time, but of my recovery and determination to heal and to forge something positive from it. The music on the album, all created during this period of my life (some of which written from my hospital bed), would probably never have been born, were it not for my journey throughout these past few years”
